About Us
Dr. Richard Shackelford graduated form the University of
California at Davis in 1972. Immediately following graduation he worked at a small animal clinic in Altadena California
during the day and at night help opens the first emergency clinic in San Gabriel valley. In 1978 he opened his first practice,
Teresita Animal Hospital in Pasadena California. It was at Teresita he developed an interest in birds and exotic animal such
as ferrets snakes and rats.
After visiting Boise and the surrounding area in 1991 Dr. Shackeford sold
his practice and moved his family to Idaho After selling a very busy 3+ doctor practice Dr. Shackelford decided he wanted
a smaller family type practice where you really get to know the clients and their pets. He purchased Treasure Valley Veterinary
Hospital in 1997, where he practices very personal, hands on medicine with the animals he cares so much about.
Trisha Donoghue Hi I worked in human medicine for 15 years
before making the switch to animal medicine and what an improvement that was! I went to work for Dr. Shackelford in Pasadena
at Teresita animal hospital. I had to learn fast because that practice moved at warp speed with 3 full time doctors and 2
regular part time doctors. It was hard but so fulfilling working with the animals. I followed the Shackelfords to Idaho a
year after them. At Treasure Valley Vet Hospital we have the most wonderful clientele a person could work for. I look forward
to every day at work. I am never bored, sometimes joyful, sometimes sad, but always glad to be here. We’re working
on building a new building to put the practice in as we have so outgrown this place. That will be another adventure for us
all.
Oleg Ravitskiy I was born and raised in Moldavia
in the former Soviet Union. I earned my veterinary degree at the University there and had my own practice. My family and I
fulfilled a life long dream to immigrate to the United States. My wife, son and I have proudly become citizens of this wonderful
country that took us in. When I first arrived I worked at another veterinary clinic where I met Dr. Shackelford and learned
to speak English. I have worked here at Treasure Valley since the first day he purchased it. It has been 10 years now
and we are all like family.
Cathi Sage I have lived in Idaho most my life. I
joined the US Army in 1987 and served in the Gulf War. I started working as a technician in 1991 and have worked through out
the Treasure Valley. I have 3 dogs, 2 turtles, 1 rabbit, 1 cat and 2 chickens. In my free time I love to snowboard, play pool
and study martial arts.
Matt Gellert came to work for us as a veterinary assistant
five years ago in his sophomore year at Bishop Kelly high school. He quickly became our go to guy for everything. Matt currently
attends Gonzaga University and will be a junior this year. We only get Matt on holidays and during the summer and we sure
do miss him in between time, as you can tell by the constant yelling of “when is Matt coming back?”
Kitty Burton I have had a love of animals my whole life.
